We are looking for a team member that will help us take our pastured chicken and grass-fed beef operation to the next level. We need someone who shares our values and commitment to regenerative farming practices, and who is willing to work alongside us and independently to meet the diverse needs of the farm. The job will require a little bit of everything–caring for animals, planting and mowing pastures, operating and maintaining equipment, interacting with customers, and challenging physical labor. We hope to find someone who has experience working with livestock on a farm or ranch. Interest in farming and animals is an absolute requirement, as is a commitment to learning and improving the farm. Position is part-time to start (minimum of 25 hours) with the possibility of full time hours as the business grows. Hourly pay dependent on experience (minimum of $12 per hour).

· Experience working on a sustainable poultry and/or cattle farm
· Able to lift 50 lbs
· Can work in challenging weather conditions
· A conscious, observant steward of our animals and land
· Able to problem solve and adapt
· Communicate and cooperate with co-workers
· Keep careful records
· Be Available to work the Saturday Farmers Market
· An interest in soil health and planting forages, cover crops, and vegetables
· Excellent customer service skills
· Experience operating and maintaining tractors and agricultural equipment
· Willing to learn how to process chickens

List of Duties/Activities

Clean and sanitize animal feeders, water troughs, and brooders

Set up and move temporary fences for daily cattle rotation and weekly laying hen moves

Feed, water, and move broiler chickens
-
Process, cut up, and package chickens

Assist with tagging, castrating, sorting, weighing, and loading cattle
-
Plant winter and summer forages in cow pastures
-
Put out hay for cattle in the winter
-
Move and replenish mineral wagon with daily cattle rotations

Perform daily safety checks and maintenance on tractors and other equipment
-
Weed eat, mow, and trim branches
-
Set up and maintain drip line irrigation in the garden

Help with weeding, planting, and harvesting in the garden and flower beds

Pressure wash buildings and machinery

Deliver cattle to processor or to other farms

Assist with sales on the farm and at farmers markets

Maintain and repair electric fences

Assist with taking soil samples and monitoring soil health in pastures and garden
